Call for Abstracts: 16th National eLearning Conference 2024
THEME: Leveraging eLearning for a Sustainable Future
DATE & TIME: September 4-6, 2024
VENUE: Lyceum of the Philippines University, Davao City
Rationale:
In recent years, the global community has faced unprecedented challenges related to sustainability, including climate change, resource depletion, biodiversity loss, and social inequality. Addressing these complex issues requires innovative approaches and collective action from all sectors of society. In this context, education plays a pivotal role in fostering awareness, knowledge, and skills necessary for building a sustainable future.
The National eLearning Conference (NeLC) 2024 aims to explore the intersection of eLearning and sustainability, recognizing the immense potential of digital technologies in advancing environmental, social, and economic sustainability goals. By leveraging eLearning platforms, tools, and methodologies, we can enhance access to education, promote lifelong learning, and empower individuals and communities to contribute to sustainable development efforts.
NELC 2024: Leveraging eLearning for a Sustainable Future is a timely and essential initiative that seeks to harness the transformative power of eLearning to advance sustainability goals. By bringing together stakeholders from across sectors, disciplines, and regions, the conference aims to catalyze collective action, inspire innovation, and accelerate progress towards a more sustainable and equitable world.
Promote Accessible and Inclusive Education: eLearning offers opportunities to overcome geographical, financial, and physical barriers to education, enabling learners from diverse backgrounds to access quality learning resources. By ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in eLearning initiatives, we can reach marginalized populations and empower them to participate in sustainable development processes.
Foster Innovation and Collaboration: Digital technologies provide a fertile ground for innovation in education, allowing for the creation of interactive, engaging, and personalized learning experiences. NELC 2024 will serve as a platform for educators, researchers, technologists, and policymakers to exchange ideas, share best practices, and collaborate on innovative eLearning solutions that promote sustainability literacy and action.
Empower Global Citizenship: In an interconnected world, fostering a sense of global citizenship is essential for addressing shared sustainability challenges, eLearning can facilitate cross-cultural dialogue, facilitate the exchange of ideas and perspectives, and cultivate empathy and understanding among learners worldwide. NELC 2024 will explore how eLearning can promote global awareness, cultural competency, and ethical responsibility, empowering individuals to become agents of positive change in their communities and beyond.
Drive Green Education Practices: The digital nature of eLearning presents opportunities to reduce the environmental footprint of education delivery. By embracing digital resources, minimizing paper usage, and adopting energy-efficient technologies, educational institutions can contribute to environmental sustainability. NELC 2024 will showcase best practices in green eLearning and explore strategies for minimizing the environmental impact of educational activities.
Prepare Future Generations for Sustainability Challenges: As we confront the realities of a rapidly changing world, it is imperative to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to navigate sustainability challenges effectively. NELC 2024 will focus on curriculum development, pedagogical approaches, and learning outcomes that integrate sustainability principles across disciplines, preparing learners to become responsible stewards of the planet and active participants in sustainable development initiatives.
